Our annual Solo and Ensemble Festival will be held April 2, 2016. We host this event for the benefit of our own students as well as guest performers. Professional judges are lined up for woodwinds, brass, piano, strings, percussion and voice. Awards will be given out for performances. All levels, from beginner to advanced students, are able to participate and are scored according to their personal experience level.
Please talk with your student and their instructor about their music selections. If you do not have an accompanist we can provide you with a list of local contacts.
Why participate in Solo and Ensemble Festival?
Performing a solo and/or playing in chamber ensembles is an excellent way for students to play music that will challenge them individually. Playing chamber music also allows them to take complete ownership of their piece and helps to nurture their musical creativity.
When attending our Solo and Ensemble festival, students are given constructive feedback in an encouraging atmosphere. Professionals provide advice to help them keep improving. They will also be given a rating at the festival that provides extra motivation for practicing and will let them know how they are doing. The festival is a great performance opportunity for students. Performing in front of an audience is a skill that becomes easier the more you repeat it. It also provides an opportunity to listen to other students' performances.
Cost For members the cost of this event is included in your dues. We are opening this event up to non-members for a low $15-20 fee per student (to cover awards and judges' compensation). If you know of anyone interested please have them contact the board via the contact page.
Registration Registration will open February 1st. Deadline for forms is March 14th, 2016.
